Financial Controller

Ashdale Care Ireland are seeking a Financial Controller to join our community.

The Financial Controller will oversee the operational accounting functions at Ashdale, making sure that all accounting records are maintained, and all processes and reporting complies with accounting standards and legislation. The financial controller will assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, prepare monthly statements and other regular financial reports.

The Person

  • Manage day to day operations of the finance team
  • Manage month end close across all entities including Revenue, Labour costs, Direct Costs and Opex, Accruals and prepayments, Fixed assets, Loan schedules, Consolidation of the financials of 6 entities.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations across all entities
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including budget comparisons and variance analysis at Homes level
  • Partner with budget owners to help them understand the financial impacts of decisions and gather operational explanations for the variances to budget.
  • Manage the development and rolling out of finance processes and controls across the organisation
  • Management of monthly billings
  • Management of payment runs
  • Manage the annual statutory audit ensuring the timely supply of information to the audit team and review of audit findings
  • Year end tax info preparation and support
  • Assistance in the development and management of KPI reporting
  • Assistance in Annual Budget preparation
  • Assistance in Forecasting process
  • Preparations of rolling cashflow forecast
  • Management of working capital & bank covenants
  • Supervise ROI and UK payrolls to external payroll providers
  • Management of Financial System (SAGE200)
  • Management of FT Accounts Administrator
  • Management of insurance including ongoing insurance claim process
  • Ad hoc projects as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Accountant with 2+ years PQE
  • Experience in full month end close process in multi-entity organisation
  • Experience in developing process and controls in an organisation
  • Experience in managing payroll process across large labour base of both salaried and hourly paid individuals
  • Excellent IT skills and systems knowledge with a strong proficiency in Excel including lookup and pivot functionality
  • Sage200 exposure an advantage
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people from different functional backgrounds
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team

This role is best suited to a Financial Controller in the early stages of their career or an experienced Senior Accountant taking their first step into a Financial Controller position.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to join our hard working, dedicated team to assist in the delivery of high quality support services with the opportunity to learn and develop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reception duties
    • First point of contact for all incoming phone calls
    • Receiving visitors and deliveries
  • Recording & managing petty cash for head office, the hubs and residential homes
  • Post in and out
  • Ensuring all meeting rooms are open and ready for meetings and confirming all pre-booked meetings in advance
  • Stock management of registers and logs and getting quotes, approval and placing orders when required.
  • Placing orders for our therapeutic hub as required
  • Archiving – liaising with our archive company re: any files that are required by teams in head office
  • Stationery orders for all homes and hubs
  • Holiday home management & bookings
  • Training on fleet management portal to be able to assist with some fleet duties if required
  • Booking hotels for external meetings when required
  • Supporting the finance department when required

The Person:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a busy administrative role
  • Strong IT skills and willing to learn new systems
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • The ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team
