Community & Sustainability

Ashdale Care is committed to the development of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) policies and practices. With this in mind, we have created an ESG Committee with a critical mission of promoting sustainability, social responsibility and ethical governance within the context of its operations.

By identifying, addressing and fulfilling ESG responsibilities, the ESG Committee contributes to the overall well-being of children in residential homes, reduces the organisation’s carbon footprint and enhances the organisation’s reputation and aligns its operations with ethical and sustainable practices

Ashdale Care has joined the Green Schools programme. We have formed a group of young people as the Green School Committee. A representative of this committee is involved in the ESG Committee. This ensures that all environmental concerns are integrated into the broader organisational strategies, and allows young people to contribute their ideas and perspectives directly.

Our Partners
Environmental Sustainability
1
Home energy and refuse
We are conducting energy audits and implementing solar panel and PV solutions across all of our homes. We are also auditing waste and refuse to ensure efficiency and sustainability across our waste solutions in every home.
2
Move motor fleet to hybrid/EVs
We are committed to gradually replacing all cars in our motor fleet to hybrid or electric vehicles. We have begun this process and expect to have a fully hybrid/ EV fleet by 2028.
3
Rewilding and tree planting
We have introduced robotic lawn mowers at a number of our homes and have created an initiative to rewild gardens where possible and plant native Irish trees.
4
Head Office efficiency
Ashdale’s HQ is A-Rated and will continue to operate under ESG best practices in terms of sustainability and governance. We aim to eliminate the use of single use plastics and encourage use of the deposit return scheme.
